Both SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated, and SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend contain sweetness from SPLENDA® Brand Sweetener, or sucralose - the no calorie sweetener that starts with sugar, tastes like sugar, but it’s not sugar.
Unlike SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend, however, SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated, does not contain brown sugar or common table sugar). It contains maltodextrin, a common food ingredient, which adds volume and texture, without adding a significant amount of calories or carbohydrate per serving. On a per serving basis, one teaspoon of SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated, has only 2 calories, meeting FDA’s standards for ‘no calorie’ foods. Another difference is that SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated, measures cup-for-cup like sugar, whereas SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend measures ½ cup-for-cup, meaning that a ½ cup of this product is equal to the sweetness of a full cup of brown sugar.
Because SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated, contains no sugar or brown sugar, it does not have all the functional properties that white and brown sugar provide, some of which are very important and desirable for certain baked goods.
SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend can be used anywhere brown sugar is used, from traditional recipes that require brown sugar to sprinkling on hot cereal.
SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend allows you to cut back on calories while the brown sugar in the blend provides browning, helps retain moistness, texture and flavor in baked goods - with half the sugar calories and carbohydrate.
